Full SQX: How to choose the right license and payment method?

If you’ve discovered the power and potential of StrategyQuant X (SQX) and are considering purchasing the software, you have several options to select the best license for your needs. In this article, we will explain what options we offer, how the model of 12-month payment plan (installments) works, and whether it’s more advantageous for you to pay in full or in installments.

First, let me start by stating that all SQX licenses are sold as lifetime, it doesn’t matter which of the options below you choose. So this software is not offered through a typical subscription model as you might be used to; however, as we will explain further, we have a model that is even more attractive for interested users.

1. Types of licenses for StrategyQuant X

SQX offers three tiers to cover various levels of needs of mining and testing algo-trading strategies:

• Starter – A basic tier that provides limited features. It can be a good starting point if you are on a tight budget, but it’s important to be aware of the limitations of this license. If you’re interested in premium data (futures and equities), you’ll need to subscribe separately ここ. The licenses are, of course, lifetime, but the rights to new software versions and full support are only for one year. After one year, when they expire, you have the option to purchase an extension for these rights  for another year.
• Professional – This tier adds more advanced tools for detailed analysis and optimization of strategies. It’s suitable for traders who want to enhance the performance of their strategies, especially since Professional offers advanced robustness tests, which are crucial for filtering out only the high-quality strategies. If you’re interested in premium data (futures and equities), you’ll also need to subscribe separately ここ. The rights to new software versions and full support are also limited to one year. When they expire, you have the option to purchase an extension for these rights for another year.
• Ultimate – The top tier, and the best long-term option, providing unlimited updates (lifetime access to improvements and new features), premium modules and data, support, and additional features like SQ4Business, a tool for selling your strategies, etc.

ヒント： If you purchase either Starter or Professional now, you can upgrade to a higher version at any time. However, be aware that upgrading to a higher tier will increase the total cost (the sum of the lower tier price + upgrade is always higher). The option to upgrade can be found on the pricing page → scroll to “Upgrade to the highest Ultimate edition.” There is also the option of “Support & Updates after one year” if you prefer just to prolong these rights (for Starter / Professional).

2. One-time payment or payment plan?

SQX offers two ways to purchase a license:

• 一括払い – This method gives you a lifetime license without any additional required costs. If you plan to use the software long-term, the one-time payment offers peace of mind with no further payments. And it’s cheaper.
• 12-month payment plan – If you prefer to pay gradually, you can choose the 12-month installment option. You should expect a 17% price increase compared to the one-time payment, which is standard for installment models. However, this plan gives you full access to all features from day one without paying the entire amount upfront. Although this is an installment plan, you’re not obligated to complete the 12-month term, meaning you can cancel at any time (though you would lose the license), there is no commitment like with regular payments, such as for a bank.
  It simply starts as a subscription, and if you make 12 monthly payments, the license will be yours for lifetime and the payments will end. This unique model reflects our confidence that SQX will win you over.

As for the features and license type, it doesn’t matter whether you choose the one-time payment or the 12-month plan. It’s exactly the same (except for the price increase).

3. Which option should you choose?

If you plan to gradually expand your trading skills, the Professional license is often the best choice. It offers an extended set of tools at a reasonable price. However, if you’re an advanced trader or plan to use SQX either intensively / in the long term, the Ultimate license is the most suitable, as it includes all premium features and unlimited updates.

If you already see the potential benefits of SQX and don’t mind the upfront investment, I would recommend going with the one-time payment, as it’s cheaper. On the other hand, many users prefer the 12-month plan, which starts like a subscription but, after paying all 12 installments, becomes yours for life.
