We are looking for a second software developer (java) to expand our team. His task is to write a metric analyser.

Who have good java knowledge and want to join our forex team?
2) mathematician
Or a mathematician who can help us to find good metrics
Our team language is german.
We make frequently skype meetings to share our knowlege.

Hi,
no one is answering this request?
where are themathematicans and software developer?
Is the biggest problem that the team language is englisch?
At the moment we have a good plan to generate strategies with the genetic builder.
You can make money with this genial tool?
We need only to improve the the metric filtering process.

Hello Thomas,
what exactly are you planning to improve in metrics?
New planned version 4 will be with support for plugins, so you’ll be able to programm your own metrics into StrategyQuant, as well as your own custom indicators, fitness functions, etc.

Hi Mark,
the metrics are good enough.
The tool search for good metric combinations and values for the metrics to find good strategies.
For example:
Wie have the following process to find good strategies.
Make Strategie generation (==> result 30000 strategies)
1) Make backtest with EURUSD_fhdb
Filter reddd <1.5 (result 25000)
Filter SQN-Score <0.6 (result 20000)
2) Make backest with EURUSD_forextester
Filter reddd <1.5 (result 15000)
Filter SQN-Score <0.6 (result 10000)
3) Make Robustnesstest with EURUSD_fhdb
Filter reddd_robust <1.5 (result 500)
…
…
At the end we get 100-200 strategies with a nettoprofit.
The MetricAnalyser is a programm to find good combinations and values to maximize the nettoprofit.

Hello Mark,
When is expected the release of v4? Could you please give us an aproximate data? Also, in which language shall we be able to code plugins? Java?
Thanks.

Hello,
I really wouldn’t like to give the date, my estimations are always too optimistic.
We are going to release update 3.2 very soon (probably this week) and it will be the last major upgrade on the 3 version.
Then we’ll start working on version 4, I cannot imagine how fast it will go, because it will be rewritten from scratch. It also depends on the work load on our other products.
My optimistic estimation is that we can have it somewhere in summer/autumn.
Java will be the language for plugins, but anything that can be compiled to Java will work, so also Python (Jython), Scala, etc.

Mark,
As some people have already pointed out, Java has a relatively steep learning curve as opposed to the Basic programming language…
Anywhere Software (the creator of Basic4Android) has recently issued a free Basic4Java compiler (B4J)
http://www.basic4ppc.com/android/forum/threads/b4j-download-and-install.34600/#content
In case you happen to get some spare time in your busy schedule, do you mind checking whether it would be capable of creating Java plugins for SQ v4..?
It would be awesome if it is..!

it is too early to be specific about this, we are still just looking an the ways how to enable it.
Anyway, plugin development is a task for programmers, you must have at least some programming knowledge.

Hi,
at the moment wie we looking for a statistican who can analyse the
metrics.
I think a multiple regressions analysis will be able to determine
how important the different metrics are.
for example.
We have a function
NetProfitFuture=factor1 * metrics1 + factor2 * metrics2….. + factore_n * metrics_n
I think it is possible to use the multiple regressions analysis to determine the factors1…. factor_n
Who can do this for us? (We are a team of 7 people)
We need this values for the filterprocess to filter the good/bad strategies.
We want to know what metrics are more importand than others.

Hi,
Mark. V4 sounds extremely interesting and I will definately trial this version when it becomes available with a view to purchase if it meets the expectations.
I’m a deep .NET developer (C#) and am hoping that by using a .NET/JAVA bridge such as http://jni4net.sourceforge.net/ it might be possible for me to develop plugins and extensions.
It would be great if you could support some kind of bridge to other non Java environments if possible.
Regards,
Mike

Hello Mike,
thank you for the link. I’m not sure if if would work, but I’ll check it.
But if you are working in C# it shouldn’t be that big step to develop in Java, we’ll give out many plugins with full source code as samples .
