I do not quite understand importance of the alignment of the historical data with timezone of the environment the EA will work in.
Let say my data is aligned with GMT timezone. I found the right strategy and use it with the broker at GMT+2 datacenter.
What difference does it make?
Why alignment is critical?
Is it only critical on short timeframes? What would be considered a short time frame? 30M, 15M and lower?

If the strategy uses pivots, Today’s Open, Daily H, Daily L, Daily O, Daily C, trades in a specific time range, exits at end of day, or references a specific time or hour then your backtesting will be invalid on different timezone data.
If it only uses indicators and none of the above then it doesn’t matter.
