Tip: Free Historical Data for Backtesting

If you’re in need of free historical data for backtesting in StrategyQuant or Metatrader (because the metatrader hist.data is not so good) you can get it here http://www.histdata.com/download-free-forex-data/ for free.

This is a very good advise but what is the source of the data’s?

From were the data’s are coming?

Why it’s for free?

This data’s are normally around 500$ so it must have a reason why they offer this for free!

They only write in the FAQ:

“Like you, tons of traders and developers are looking for data to backtest their trading systems. We are developers and traders too and, since we need also this information, why not sharing it with you?” 

But this answer it’s not really trustful I think.

Here it’s written a review of all free datas-sources.

When you take look to the “pro” of Dukascopy there is written ” high data quality”.

Thus is not written in “Histdata.com”
