What do the numbers in brackets mean?

Hello
Is there a tutorial on what the numbers in brackets mean? For example, when we use close[0], which candle is it? Or what happens in boolinger band when we use shift?

Hello,

it is a bar number (backwards).

The bar [1] in MetaTrader is the latest complete (closed) bar on the right side. Further into history you go higher the number

TradeStation and MultiCharts refers to the latest closed bar as [0] though
