Hi,

I’m using SQ3 to generate strategies on lower timiframes, tried M1 and M5. Not using any custom indicators.  On 5 minute timeframe it takes between 60 and 120 seconds to generate a random strategy. Set to 1 Minute data test precision.

I have a 4-core i7 (so 8 logical CPU) and SQ is using about 20% cpu whilst generating the strategies.  Options set to use all 8 cores.  I have 16GB RAM.

Question, if it isn’t maxed out on CPU, what is taking so long to generate each strategy?

On higher timeframes like H1 and D1, CPU usage averages seem much higher.

Thanks,

Mike

The genetic generation is not 100% optimized to use all 4/8 cores.

I have the same problem.

I have solved this:

you can copy the SQ-Directory and start the SQ three times.

Sometimes the SQ freezes if you start this to often on the same computer.

Strange, I use 3.8 version on my i7 (8 threats) and for most time it is using 90-99% of power.

But, it is true when it comes to generate 2nd , 3rd , 4th…. generation, then it uses much less power.

it is because genetic operations in version 3 are not handled in multi-threaded way, and they slow down the generation process.

This will be improved in version 4.
