When I try to use the genetic algorithm SQ crashes

When I try to use the genetic algorithm SQ crashes. It remains completely locked in “Starting Genetic Evolution…” I can not exit the program and I have to restart the PC. I tried to reinstall SQ, but the problem continues.

Can you tell me how to solve this bug?

it is strange, it could be caused by some very special combination of settings.

Try some of the 4 sample settings from the Home screen, does it behave the same?

It could be simply you have an unstable PC under heavy load.

Try using some CPU soak test software for a few hours. If your PC freezes or simply reboots, it is a sign there are overheating or other hardware issues.

Also you don´t need to restart your PC if SQ hangs. Just open the task manager and close StrategyQuant64.exe

 

That being said, I never had this problem and I am using SQ 24/7. What are your computer specs? I suspect it could be a to low RAM problem which makes SQ hang at very start of generating already as it can´t allocate the needed heap.
