I am not sure if there is such a topic on SQ forum but i think some of the members would be interested in relevant news regarding PC hardware. Main focus is the processor.
also this would be of potential interest for beginners in SQ in choosing a particular configuration for their new system
The x86 architecture has been hitting something of a wall lately but AMD looks like it could be set to inject it with a fresh breath of life. According to the rumor mill, the company has finalized the Zen 3 design and it introduces a new SMT4 feature that will allow each core to execute four threads simultaneously.
Intel Cascade Lake-X Core i9 processors to start at US$590; 18 core Core i9-10980XE will cost just US$979
Expect to see Cascade Lake-X launching in November,
AMD reveals details on upcoming Zen 3 “Milan” and Zen 4 “Genoa” EPYC server CPU architectures
state my opinion …. it is useless to run after last cpu 20,30,40,50 cores …. thinking that the combinations between building block exit entry rules stop loss trailing etc … etc are practically infinite or almost … so 1 million or 50 million strategies per hour are not enough to scan the possible combinations … if data is not pre-processed before
I repeat, this is my little opinion
Intel reportedly planning to unleash its financial might to counter AMD, price cuts for Core and Xeon processors to cost US$3 billion
Intel’s upcoming LGA 4667 platform to support PCIe 5.0 and DDR5 for 10 nm+++ and 7 nm CPUs, launching 2021
The first 7 nm server CPUs from Intel are expected to launch in 2022, so desktop-grade CPUs supporting those new features will be released later on.

there are some rumors and clues that a 64 core 3rd gen TR is in the works
the only downsides are that it will probably be very expensive and most certain you have to wait for a new version of BIOS
another alternative approach would be to buy the current 32 core 2990WX when AMD will launch the 3rd gen TR because AMD has always cut the prices with a significant amount, probably les than 1000 EUR in this case
AMD Ryzen Threadripper 3960X, 3970X, and 3990X expected to be announced on November 5, require new TRX40 chipsets and new sockets
you can forget a BIOS update, you have to change the motherdoard

thank you, i will try to post regularly and only the most relevant information for systems used in SQ.
i am also thinking to start another thread, only with PC configurations and setups for those wanting a new system or an upgrade, with relevant tests and roundups
