Im trying to build strategies now for oil and gold. XUAUSD is easy to understand because dukascopy has the same for gold but my broker has XBRUSD for brent crude vs USD but dukascopy data has Brentcmdusd. are they the same? is there a way to check they are the same so i can draw the same conclusions in the future for other markets?
thanks

i am trading WTI and must say, that dukascopy data for OIL symbols are not usable – CFDs differs a lot and every broker will have different datafeed – and thus your backtest will not be reliable
You want to be a profitable algotrader? We started using StrateQuant software in early 2014. For now we have a very big knowhow for building EAs for every possible types of markets. There is quite a bit of difference in the datafeed. The difference becomes material even at D1 granularity.
For example, here is a test of a strategy on Pepperstone using XBRUSD D1 between 2012.01.01 to 2020.05.29 using spread of 8 pts
Dukascopy Result below (US Brent Crude Oil)
Pepperstone Result Below (XBRUSD)
