Hi!

Let say, I like to see 30 trades / year on average for 12 years if I speak about H1 timeframe.

But what if I generate strategy for M15 or H4? Should I increase and decrease the minimum number of trades?

its up to you…there is nothing like RIGHT value

its more about something like statistical sample – when the markets will be moving, we are getting more trades, in these years where the volatility is low we have not so many trades, mostly false breakouts and losses 🙂

for M5-H4 ill not change this value – 30 trades per year will give you minimum 300 trades for the whole history and i think this is enough to prove that the strategy should have some edge

in my view, it depends on what type of strategy you want to apply

if you keep the same type of strategy and you want to move from M15 to H4, you must adjust not only the number of trades/month but also the SL and PT. On M15 you can have 1 trade every week compared to H4 where you have a trade in 1 month or more. On daily you can have a trade in 4 months

if you dont change any parameter and just change the timeframe, it means you are searching for different type of strategy because on H4 or in extreme case, on daily, if you put 100 pips or 200 pips of SL, that’s way too small
