Here’s where we can discuss SQ X updates nad news.
This topic was renamed from SQ4 Early preview. The old, no longer relevant posts are or will be deleted and archived.
The point is in clearing up our forum from old, non-relevant stuff.

Moving through the database with arrow up and down and pressing SPACE to unselect the ones I do not need.

So where does SQ take the level values from if building completely without the “Signals (Predefined conditions)” blocks and only with the “Indicators” block? Thanks.
If you’ll check indicator snippets for indicators returning numbers, there is usually a definition of min/max value, so this one is used as range when using normal generation.
Example for CCI:
@Indicator(oscillator=true, middleValue=0, min=-300, max=300, step=5)

Announcement – Build 115 has just been released.
This is mostly a bugfix update, as the previous build had some errors introduced wiht the new features. We made quite a few fixes in optimizatons and its related features – Walk-Forward, Optimization Profile, System Param Permutation

Hi Mark, Thanks for quick fixes! But there is still no Min value for Shift :\ Will it be added back later?

Thanks, Mark, I thought something like that. This clearly needs a change, please for the same reason as my previous “bug” report about the Level values in “Signals (Predefined conditions)”. So I´ve made a feature request here:

Thank you for all the good work, SQX is becoming a real dream software, nothing comparable out there and also thanks for listening to your users so much! Have a great weekend 🙂

Just a general information for everyone: I´ve been playing with the Java 12 early access builds and SQX. They work perfectly well (no crash in over 48 hours so far) with SQX and I´ve noticed a speed-boost compared to all Java 11 builds I´ve previously tested by about 10000 strategies / hour (220000 vs ~234000 which is on a Threadripper 1950X @ 3925 MHz, 32 GB DDR4-3400 RAM, Windows 10 x64, 32 years EURUSD H1 no intrabar testing). In case anyone wants to test too, the download is here:

Hi Mark,
I have another question about the building block “Number”. In which range does it generate a number? There is no way to specify a range there at all and I am wondering how it comes up with a “meaningful” number at all? How does it determine the range it should create a number in?
Thanks.

Hi Geektrader,
Quick question to you. Where did you get data from 1986?

Bought it “back in the days” (like ~4 years ago) purchased 1 min data for 28 pairs and 29 years from Asirikuy.com, been updating it with my own broker’s data each month since then. Asirikuy is closed for new members meanwhile though and he´s not selling the data anymore either.

Before opening a request in the bug section, I wanted to know what this error message means and if this just my problem and how I can solve it (I had this problem even in the previous build)
Thanks
P.

Hey Mark,
Just an idea for build 117. If builds will no longer have release dates attached to them starting with 116 then after 116 is completed, it may be a good idea to run through all of the unassigned suggestions along with the to do later section and use 117 to be the build that can encompass everything there is left to work on unless there is any other major bug after 116 that needs to be resolved and pushed out quickly. I think if 116 is good enough to fix the last bit of important bugs and enhance performance across the board, it may be worth it to wait for a major update after 116.
What are your thoughts?

Paolo – it looks like your firewall/antivirus restricted SQ from starting its internal web server, did firewall ask you for any permission during install/update or when you started SQ for the first time?
Try disabling your firewall temporarily, it should fix the problem. Then you should also edit teh list fo allowed apps in your firewall/antivirus and make sure there is no restrictions on StrategyQuant exes.

Number value is generated from the allowed range of the indicator on the other side of comparison.
keinc301 – we plan to keep on releasing new SQ builds every 2-3 weeks, with bugfixes and improvements per our users suggestions. We will be looking at all the reported tasks, with bugs having highest priority.
We don’t plan to add any bigger feature until the end of year, we will focus on stabilizing the program and fixing some minor issues and requests.
But there are still some surprises in preparation until the end of year 🙂

I noticed SQ has a Java setup in it’s install directory, does it use the system install or does it ignore that and use it’s own?
If it doesn’t use the system one, how do you install a different one?
Is there any way to confirm the version it’s using?

drayzen – SQ uses its own Java, it is located in /j64 folder in SQ installation.
It is easy to change Java version in SQ, simply replace this folder with your own Java version. Make sure it is JDK, not JRE.

Thanks Mark, have opened a request in that relation here: https://roadmap.strategyquant.com/tasks/sq4_3539
