System requirements
StrategyQuant is not an EA, it is a normal program (EXE file) for Microsoft Windows and it will run on all standard computers with Internet connection.
Minimum system requirements:
- 2 GHz processor 2 cores
- 8 GB RAM
- 10 GB hard disk space
- Windows 7 64 bit or later, MAC OSX, Linux
Computing power
Strategy generation and backtesting requires a lot of processing power, so the faster computer you have, the more strategies will be generated and tested.
The most important component that affects the speed of testing is processor (CPU). StrategyQuant can use all processor cores, so the best results will be achieved by using multi-core processor, such as i5 or i7 or AMD.
To run on M1 or M2 MAC processors SQX requires Rosetta add-on for MAC OSX. If not already installed it will be prompted during the first run on your MAC

Please add ‘Linux’ under supported Operating Systems.
And maybe advantages / disadvantages compared to Windows.
Yes, thanks. You can install SQX on Linux. Please download the latest version from this page https://strategyquant.com/download/
Hi
Is grid feature already implemented (up and running properly) so one can use a few of his / her computers to speed up the process of strategies generation ?
regards
JB
We intended to add this functionality into SQX but now such plans have been postponed into future. We are not sure when this could be added
What are the minimum requirements for the Mac, which operating system?
You can use SQX on both Intel and Apple chip based machines. The latest MAC OS should be fine
What Java JDK we need?
We supply important Java files together with the SQX package. After you unzip it is located under /j64 folder
How can I change this? I’m having trouble with SQx continually crashing. I have an i7 computer with 8 CPU and 32 GB of RAM and it is impossible to obtain strategies only with short signals… and long signals also get complicated. For a while now if I got short and long signals without problems… I have updated I have used my version of java several times for work and I suppose it is related… I am using SQX V137.1776, I have not moved on to 138 because in my particular case I saw that it gave me problems with… Read more »
